Thank you so much, I can relate to this, especially the undersides of overachieving. I did meet Abduralzak Gurnah mid book tour recently and his stance remained the same: to just write. Every achievement is a plus, not a yardstick.
Damn. I feel as though this was pulled off my thoughts. But here’s what Walt Whitman has to say about this feeling - ”One world is aware, and by the far the largest to me, and that is myself, And whether I come to my own today or in ten thousand or ten million years, I can cheerfully take it now, or with equal cheerfulness, I can wait.”. I hold this in my heart always, because I do not doubt if my dreams are achievable, I know they are. I think the trick is to keep on doing the things you hoped will get you there and you’d eventually get there in the end, no matter how long it takes, like Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, imagine all the doubts that must have crept into her mind in 15years of waiting and working?
Fammm, Jindu! Thanks for that quote. I'm adopting it sharp sharp. Waiting is the hardest part but we keep moving. May we always have the perseverance; may we be kind to ourselves as we keep pushing, and may our dreams come true. Thanks for stopping by, chief!
Thank you so much for writing this, Ama!

Im glad you can relate, Ife. In the end, it looks like we're all winging it. Let's keep pushing, and may our dreams come true.

Thank you so much for this, it helps.
And I feel seen, how we fixate more on the losses than wins.
This is so heart-warming. Thank you so much.
Just came across this and all I can say is I’m glad we’re much that are feeling like this.
I use to think I’m crazy for not having a sense of fulfillment whenever I achieve something
I resonate with this so so much. And I will definitely come back to read this again in the future. That's all I'll say for now.
Beautiful.. Thank you ❤️
This piece is addressed to me.
I enjoyed reading this🥰👏
“It’s one thing to keep eyes on the prize; it’s another to let said prize distract us from experiencing smaller joys.“
I love this so much!
I'm so glad you do! Thanks!
